“It is the world’s longest-running continuous network broadcast and is carried on more than 2,000 radio and television stations and cable systems,” says the Observer.
“And it’s a live program,” choir president Mac Christensen is quoted as saying. “But why is it run? Inspiring music, uplifting music, music that will make you laugh, will make you cry, will make you think. If we ever need to be uplifted, it’s now. And I’m sure in 1929 when it started they needed to be uplifted.”
